Complete Guide to Urea 46-0-0 Fertilizer

What is Urea 46-0-0?

Urea is the worlds most widely used nitrogen fertilizer, containing 46% nitrogen in the amide form. It is produced through the chemical reaction of ammonia and carbon dioxide under high pressure and temperature, resulting in uniform white prills or granules.

Nutrient Composition

  • Total Nitrogen (N): 46% minimum
  • Biuret Content: 1.0% maximum
  • Moisture: 0.5% maximum
  • Granule Size: 1.18-3.35mm

Best Application Methods

  • Broadcasting: Spread evenly across the field surface before planting or as top-dressing
  • Band Application: Place in bands 5-7cm below soil surface to reduce volatilization losses
  • Fertigation: Dissolve in irrigation water for precise nutrient delivery
  • Foliar Spray: Low-concentration solution (0.5-2%) for quick nitrogen boost

Crops That Benefit Most

Urea is suitable for virtually all crops including rice, wheat, corn, sugarcane, cotton, vegetables, fruits, and pastures. It is particularly effective for cereal crops where nitrogen drives vegetative growth and grain protein content.

Storage and Handling

Store in cool, dry conditions away from moisture. Urea is highly hygroscopic and will absorb water from the air, causing caking. Keep bags sealed and stacked on pallets. Shelf life is unlimited if stored properly.
